COACH OUTING 7 Sept – Anglesey Abbey Gardens, House and Lode Mill (NT) Cambridge

Forty three MHS members and friends travelled – we had a good journey both ways and the weather stayed dry. As hoped the formal gardens and walks through the trees (all designed by the last owner Lord Fairhaven from 1930s to 1966) were much enjoyed by members of our party with particularly complimentary comments from them about the long sweeping curved Dahlia border. Also we thought that the house contents were very interesting, with a fine collection of silver, paintings and furniture all collected by Lord Fairhaven. All of the staff were particularly enthusiastic and helpful. The photo of the gardeners deadheading is going to be put on the visitor centre Dahlia news noticeboard.
